August Discussion Thread

Last month it was “let’s talk about feeling smart” and now I’m about to basically do the opposite; watching the Olympics and seeing people jump over hurdles has reminded me of the time in high school gym class that I struggled my way over some hurdles and then the gym teacher said, at the end, “Well, this isn’t really your sport, is it?” Like…??? I KNOW THAT, obviously! It was so important to you to make a smart mouth remark to a kid in front of their whole class reminding them they’re bad at something?

So the question today is about things teachers said to you that crushed your dreams or generally told you you were a garbage can. Let’s go!
