October Discussion Thread

This month’s question is inspired by this Architectural Digest article I just read, about Kirsten Dunst’s lovely house. It’s simultaneously “very nice but not for me” (ranch houses and I simply do not vibe) and also absolutely gorgeous and full of personality and I want every stick of it, especially the kitchen.

But what it made me realize is that I know what I’d splash out on if I was rich, and it’s a really cool house with interesting (and perhaps weird) decor. And, let’s not lie, also the services of a pro to keep it looking great. Obviously even if I struck it rich tomorrow, I couldn’t do this right away; there’s no point in having an incredible house if you have to worry about whether a Hot Wheels car race is going to fuck up the floors, so it would have to wait until Hap is maybe a little older anyway, but anyway, that’s our question: If you were really rich, what would be The Thing you poured lots of money into?
